A new feature has now been introduced in the messaging app Messenger, named “Communities”. With this, you can join a group formed on a specific topic without joining the Facebook group. This Communities feature on messenger was already present in WhatsApp, now it has been brought to Messenger as well.
In this Communities feature on messenger, the admin can add up to 5,000 people and they can interact with each other. Earlier it was necessary to be a part of the Facebook group, now it is not so.
This feature will be especially useful for organizations, schools and private groups. With this, they will be able to connect with each other in a more systematic way.
This is not like Facebook Group. In Messenger’s communities, you can add people who are interested in things of your choice. The person who creates the community is its admin, and anyone can search and join it.
How do the communities feature on Messenger work?
It is worth noting that the messages and other things sent in the communities will be visible to everyone, not just those to whom you have sent the message. Also, the privacy settings of the communities will also be like Facebook group chat, not like the general conversation done among each other. WhatsApp also has a feature of communities but a phone number is required to invite there. Messenger Communities are slightly different from WhatsApp Communities that came in 2022.
The company said, “Communities on Messenger are for more open conversations, so their privacy settings will be different from your personal messages and will be similar to Facebook group chats.”
